Our town loves Independence Day so much that they celebrate it for two days straight! We were invited to celebrate the 3rd of July at City Park with several of our friends. We all brought finger foods to share and games to play. It was an absolute blast. We played baseball, kickball, board games, had a water balloon fight, played water balloon baseball and at the end of it all...watched a super awesome fireworks show! I just love when holidays last for multiple days!!!
The best thing about living in the same town you grew up in is the fact that my kids get to do some of the exact same things I remember doing as a kid. Our town is famous for the old flour mill that sits on Main Street. Not only is it a giant mill, it has an equally giant sign that lights up every night. Unfortunately, as with everything it needs repair over time. I remember when I was about 8 the sign was in need of repair. Our town raised change at the local grocery store and at our elementary schools to replace the bulbs in the sign. We had a special lighting ceremony and the whole town turned out. Well...the grocery store is now gone...but my kids go to the same elementary school I did...and the sign needed repaired. 25 years later...we had yet another mill relighting ceremony! This time they equipped it with LED lights and actually made a completely new sign. I am excited to raise my kids in this town and to watch the mill sign for many years to come!!!
In June, Harper and Grandma headed to Stillwater for their second year of Grandparent's University. This year, Harper got her first choice of Athletic Training as her major. She was so excited. She and Grandma also got to be suitemates with their same friends from last year. Harper and Charlie hit it off and were BFFs the rest of the time. They got to do a ton of fun stuff...but Harper's favorite was getting to wrap every body part imaginable...and she even got to bring home rolls of tape! Woohoo! We were excited to join them on Friday for the graduation ceremony. I just love that Harper already bleeds orange!
It has been so long since this happened, that Tball season is actually getting ready to start back up again...but I couldn't resist putting the pics on here. Owen had a great first season of Tball with the Avengers. He learned a lot and most importantly...had a blast! At their last practice, we filled up water balloons and let them have a fight. Owen wasn't sure what to do at first, but it didn't take him long to soak his teammates and me! It's ok...Richard got him back. A few nights later, we finished up the season before the summer got too hot! Summer is so fun!
