Yet another busy, but exciting month.
We started off the month with Harper's Spring Music Performance. All of the kids dressed in yellow and sang cheery Spring songs. Harper had a small speaking part too. You will have to look hard to find our tall girl on the very back row! Nothing better than some fun to start off the season!
Of course the best event of the month was getting to celebrate Harper's 9th Birthday! I absolutely can not believe that my baby girl is 9 years old. Crazy! We didn't have a birthday party this year, but we celebrated at school with our friends. On her birthday, I took Aunt Melanie's popcorn machine and bottled Cokes to school. It was a hit!! Harper even got to stand on her chair and her classmates sang to her! We celebrated the following day with breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. Yum!

Harper's Softball season wrapped up in May! They improved so much this year and most importantly...had a blast! A mom on her team took these pictures in the collages and sent them to me. I love them!
May is a great month to celebrate in our family. For Richard's birthday, he wanted to head to Colorado for the weekend. Harper and I searched for some races and ended up finding two during the weekend we were there. Our whole family ended up joining us, since it was Mother's Day weekend. Everyone arrived by Friday morning and we started our adventures with a ride on the Georgetown Railway. It was so neat to see all of the kids and adults enjoying their time! We started out Saturday participating in the Shape Diva Dash. It was an obstacle course type run and it was a BLAST! We finished in pretty good time for the obstacles and the elevation. After that we headed to Boulder for a wonderful lunch and shopping around. We had a great time and were geared up for our second race at the Boulder Dam...however, there was an obstacle. SNOW! It was some crazy, freak May snowstorm. Yuck! Needless to say, we did not come prepared to run in the snow. Therefore, we decided to head home early. A short weekend trip that was FULL of memories!
Harper competed in her class's Spelling Bee and got 3rd place. This earned her a spot in the school-wide Third Grade Spelling Bee. She was very nervous, but very excited for the competition. I was also a nervous wreck. I just didn't want her to be the first kid that got out. And whew! She wasn't. She got her practice word correct, round one word correct and then unfortunately got out on her round two word, "Fiddle". I am so proud of her for getting up there and trying!
Good weather this month was great for our cousin, Hazen, to come over and play. He is getting so big and is such a blast to play with. He is 100% boy! Right up Owen's Alley!
Towards the end of the month, Harper competed in her 2nd Hershey's Track Meet. This year she chose to participate in the 50 m and the 400 m. Two very different races, but she wanted to try her hand at both. And she did great! She actually got 1st in the 50 m and 2nd in the 400 m. Off to the State Meet in Norman!!!
May is a great month of building excitement for summer. However, it is bittersweet as the school-year winds down. We ended the year with many fun events. One of them being Harper's Awards Ceremony. Harper earned a spot on the Principal's Honor Roll. So very proud of her!
And the best part of my job! Graduation! It is always such a blast to watch the smiles on the faces of those kiddos as they hold their heads high and cross the stage. It never fails to bring a tear to my eye either. Cool thing was, that since I am the principal this year, I got to shake every single one of the graduates' hands. Such an honor!
As Harper finished 3rd grade, I came to the realization that she was also finishing her time at her current elementary school. She has been there since Pre-K. Five Years! But she, now is moving on to the Upper Elementary School for 4th Grade. New Adventures await!
Her class ended the year with a Luau! It was so much fun to watch her and her classmates grow this year. They were great friends and created many memories!
We ended the month with Harper's Annual Spring Dance Recital. This year it had a Fairytale theme. Harper performed her Jazz routine to Little Red Riding Hood and her Ballet routine to Rapunzel. I loved both, but the Ballet was absolutely gorgeous! So proud of her progression in dance! She is in LOVE!!!
