Daddy-Daughter Dance!

Last night was the 7th Anuual Daddy-Daughter Dance held at our Town's Community Center. Harper is 4 this year, so she finally got to go. She has been talking about this "prom" (from having a mom who is a prom sponsor) for over 5 weeks. As each Saturday would roll around, she would say, "Only # weeks until the Daddy-Daughter Dance!" With the weather being yucky...I was so afraid they would cancel it. But the city pulled thorugh and scraped enough roads and parking lots. Whewww! I was kind of afraid we would have to hold a mach dance right in our living room!

At about 3 pm, Harper started the beauty routine. She took a bath and washed her hair. When she got out, we had a mini-manicure session. She chose pink...of course!

Then we put her dress on and headed to the salon (my bathroom). I pulled her hair up and pinned down a few curls and we even added a little bling. She was so proud of her new look...she kept turning from side-to-side looking in the mirror.

After Harper was ready, Daddy got dressed up in his suit or "hux-n-tux" as Harper calls it. Then, as any good mother does...I started taking pics. We had a mini-photo session and then they headed out. I will let you check out Richard's blog for details about the dance (he'll probably post later). The happy pair got home about 8 pm and she was talking a mile a minute. So fun! I wish I could have gone!

{nine months}

Owen turned 9 months old last week! It is hard to believe that he has been out of the womb, longer than he was in.

At his checkup, his stats were...

Weight: 16 pounds...even! (3rd%)
Height: 26 inches (<5th%)

In celebration of Owen being 9 months old...here are my favorite NiNe things about him!

9. How he SMILES all the time...even when he doesn't feel well!

8. How he idolizes his sister and wants to be next to her every minute!

7. How he waves bye-bye and hello!

6. How he loves to give me Big, Slobbery Kisses!

5. How he is now crawling at the speed of light...army man style!

4. How he cuddles in when you give him a bottle to put him to bed!

3. How I can dress him in whatever I want and he doesn't complain!

2. Secretly...how he is so cute when he sucks his thumb!

1. How I'm his favorite and he says "mamamama"...even if I have to pretend he is calling for me!

We Love You Owie!

Snowed In...AGAIN!

Well...we are on Day #2 of No School and NOWHERE to go! Cabin Fever has definetely set in! Yesterday was kind of nice...I hemmed my curtains and a few pairs of pants...did all my laundry...upacked a few boxes I still had left from the move...and picked up the house. It felt good to have a little "forced" time at home. Today...a different story! Everything was done and we had nothing to do. We ate, played games, colored, ate, played some more, but by noon we were wearing on each other's nerves.

Boredom Cure #1...Richard dug out an old army guy he had from awhile back. He crawls for a bit, shoots his gun and then crawls some more. Owen had a blast crawiling after him and Harper had a ton of fun too!

Boredom Cure #2...After lunch, Harper came to me with this big Mr. Potatohead Bucket she has and asked to fill it with snow. Huh? I thought...ok, whatever. So her and I bundled up and headed out into the blizzard to fill him up with snow. We had a great time running around outside, burning up some energy. She wanted to bring the bucket back into the house and see what happened to the snow. I thought to myself..."Oh, it's just water. What the heck!" So he is now sitting by the front door (on the tile) and has melted some. Wow...snow lasts awhile.

We have had a fun two days...but we are going to have to free ourselves tomorrow and get out of this place! Hopefully?!?

Harper's Happenings!

So, it has been awhile since I posted about Harper and her crazy, super funny shananigans. A story from a few weeks back...

On Christmas night my dad was driving us home and we were talking about their cat, Vegas. Vegas had just come home from being gone about 4 weeks. We don't know where she went, but probably imagine that she hopped int he back of someone's trailer and got hauled a ways down the road. Anyways...as we were talking, Harper chimed in and started telling what she thought happened to Vegas. She explained how she was probably taken far away, locked in a barn and then...she said, "I'm guessin' she just SLY-FOXED her way out the barn door and that's how she got away!" Sly-foxed???? We all burst in laughter...she is a walking thesauraus.

Harper returned to school on Monday and was ecstatic. She actually laid in bed for over 3 hours on Sunday night before she finally fell asleep. She was so excited to wear her "big girl" outfit to show her friends and teachers.

And...well...school didn't last long. We were out today because of the FRIGID temps...and some of the schools were without electricity. So we all got to stay home today. It was fun, but I think we were all getting used to being back to a normal routine. Oh well, maybe tomorrow?

Tonight, while I was cooking dinner, Harper was playing in her playroom. Richard walked in there to get her for supper and stumpled upon a FABULOUS tea party she had set up for us. It was even complete with place cards. It was too cute to resist, so we just ate our supper in there. So fun!!!

8 Months Young

I say 8 months YOUNG becuase I can't use the word OLD...Owen is just growing up way too fast. As I always say..."Where does the time go?"

{1 in 5 of the Puffs makes it in!}
Owen hit the 8 month mark last week and he is doing fantastic. He had a yucky sinus infection at the beginning of the break...but has recovered nicely. When we took him to the doc awhile back, he weighed in at 15 lbs., 1 oz. WooHooo! We are so excited for him. He has been eating so good and seems to have a hollow leg at times. Just this week he cut his first tooth. It is on the bottom and is still a tiny sliver...but are waiting for it to pop up. He is still working on his professional crawling abilities, but has the ARMY crawl down! His main interests these days are his sister's toys, the dogs, and PUFFS! "Happy 8th Month Birthday" as Harper says!

{Santa brought this shirt for Owen...it is just like the silly shirts his Daddy wears! It says..."Future Math Major...I stick to the formula." Love it!}

The Last Hoorah!!!

We had our final Christmas Celebration yesterday at my Dad's parents house...the farm. We were bummed becuase it was WAY too cold for us to venture outside this time...but we still had tons of fun! Harper played tons of fun games with my cousins and they had her giggling until she was soar. Owen had a good time seeing everyone and an even better time opening presents. I think he finally has gotten the hang of it! Now we will just have to wait until his b-day in April to see if he remembers how! Yesterday was a great end to a WONDERFUL Christmas Season!
