Our Olympian

Last Thursday Harper had her "Olympic" competition for gymnastics. They have been practicing behind closed doors for the past three weeks, so their routines were a suprise to us all. I was so impressed by all of Harper's gymnastic skills she has mastered over the past 6 months. She did such a fantastic job and was so proud of herself! I am so proud of her too!

The Kids' Stats

Last week was Doctor Check-up Week at our house!

Owen went to the doctor on Thursday afternoon for his 2 week check-up. He is a growing boy. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 20 3/4 inches long! The doctor said he was doing fantastic. Here is Owen's two-week picture for his Tuesday book.

Harper went to the doctor on Friday morning for her 4 year old check-up. She is also growing. She is 42 inches tall (90th percentile) and weighs 37.5 lbs (75th percentile). Her visit was much more traumatic than Owen's because she had to get 3 SHOTS!!! And this time she was VERY aware of what was going on. Her antagonizing screams probably sent other kids running out of the doctor's office, but with the help of the nurse, my mom and I, we were able to hold her down. The crazy part is...she didn't even cry when she was actually getting the shots! She recuperated quickly with the help of a cherry slush from Sonic! :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there! I hope your day was as fantastic as mine was. It was so wonderful to be a mother of two this mother's day. What a complete family! I am the luckiest girl in the whole world!

When Melanie took Owen and I to pick up Harper on Friday from school, I was greated with this certificate and the present behind it. The present was a tin can the kids had painted and it held three flower pens! I am so proud of it! I love the certificate because it is really what Harper feels! Again, I am the luckiest!

Mother's Day was a big day at our house. Not only were we celebrating Mother's Day, but it was also Richard's 28th Birthday today! Happy Birthday to my best Friend! Today was also Owen's first time to go to church...out of the womb that is! We got him all dressed up and boy did he look "daper." (One of Harper's words from her Fancy Nancy book!)

Tonight as we celebrated Mother's Day at my parent's house, Harper led us all in a talent show. It turned into an interactive game, but she had a good time showing off for the crowd! She is her mother's daughter!!! :)

A week in review...

Yesterday, Owen was officially ONE week old! Wow, I can already tell the time is going to fly by. Here are a few snapshots from our past week.

One of the hardest concepts for Harper to understand is the fact that her brother doesn't drink from a bottle. She has been asking to feed him a bottle since he was in utero...so I obliged. I pumped and Owen got to eat from a bottle that his Big Sister was feeding him. She was so happy...and he was too! He downed that bottle. However, Harper thought he ate a little slow, so she gave up towards the end of the first ounce and Dad had to take over.

Owen hanging out with Grandma. My parents have been over every night since we came home from the hospital to help us get the kids to sleep. It is such a blessing, I am not sure how we are going to do it without them!

Monday was our first outing. Richard took Owen and I to his doctor's appointment. It was so fun to get him dressed up, but since it has been so cold here, we had to improvise. We put a long sleeved shirt under his outfit...I thought he looked just like the "big" boys! His doctor said everything was fine. He looked perfect. He weighed 7 lbs, 8 oz...up 3 oz. from when we went home from the hospital!

Last night, the whole family gave Owen his bath. Harper loves being in the middle of it, but was a little disturbed when he started peeing everywhere once he was in the bath. Afterwards, we found her in the bathroom giving one of her babies a bath. It was so cute...she wrapped it in a towel, brought it into his room, diapered it and swaddled it in a blanket. Such a good little Mommie!
