June 2014

June was the official start of Summer and was filled with many great adventures!
We started out the month with a series of camps.  Harper went to Basketball Camp and her team won the championship!  She then headed off to VBS and Softball Camp...FUN!  Owen started at Baseball Camp, then VBS and Wrestling Camp.  He loved them both and fell in love with wrestling.  They both rounded out June with a week at Tennis Camp.  A new adventure that they both enjoyed!
The Avengers finished out their season...getting 2nd place!  Way to go Owen!

Summer Nights are great to enjoy our favorite event...baseball!  We took the kids and their friends to a Redhawks game in June and they had a blast.  It was a good game and we had pretty close seats.  Not to mention some of our other friends were in the Box Seats and had a Hospitality Suite...so the kiddos got to visit up there for awhile too.  Owen just can't get enough of baseball!

Harper has been growing her hair out since August 2013 to donate to Locks of Love.  One of her dear friends and classmates, has leukemia and Harper's big heart just had to do something to help.  This was her way of helping another child and it was so awesome to see her so excited about her donation.  There were many times along the way that she wanted to cut it, to get it out of her eyes or when it was hot, but she persevered.  She is loving her short hair, but now that dance is starting back...she is hoping it will grow quickly to get it back into a bun!  So proud of my little philanthropist!

June is the best because we get to celebrate Father's Day!  We love our Daddy and we are so glad there is a day dedicated to celebrating him.  We started out the day at church and then went to Aunt Melanie's for lunch.  While we were there, we got to take the paddle boats and paddle boards out for a spin.  Such a fun day to celebrate all of the great "Dads" in our life!

I always say, "You know it is summer, when Wheat Harvest arrives!" and that is so true!  There is nothing like hot wind blowing through the tall stalks with the sound of the combine in the background.  I just love it!!!  I took the kids out to "help" Boppy one day for harvest and we had a blast!  We even took the fourwheelers to the field to ride around also.  Good thing we brought them because we had to end up using them to wrangle some cows!  Lots of Farmin' Fun!

During 3rd Grade, Harper and her friend, Gracen, decided that they wanted to be 1st in their classes to make their Accelerated Reader goals.  The caveat was that if they accomplished this task, we had to take them to Great Wolf Lodge.  Harper and Owen have been begging to go and since we hadn't be there before...I agreed.  And needless to say...both Harper and Gracen accomplished their goals!  So in mid-June we loaded up and headed to Kansas City.  I am not a huge fan of water parks, but it really was a ton of fun!  Our first stop of the trip was at T-Rex Cafe.  Then, we splashed in the water and rode all of the rides and then headed to the Kansas City Royals Game.  It was a great game and a beautiful night for baseball!  We had a great time in KC and can't wait to go back.  Goal setting...here we come!

The warmer weather and slower schedules brought about several swim parties.  We were so excited to get to see family and friends and get the chance to splash around together!

Harper is such a lucky girl, in that she gets to spend several days each year at OSU's Grandparent University with her Grandma.  This was her 3rd year to get to go and she is becoming a pro.  This year her and Grandma's major was Oklahoma Geology.  It turned out to be one of their favorites!  Although every year they enjoy each major.  We were so excited to get to watch the Graduation ceremonies again this year!  So proud of my Orange Lovin' Girl!!!  Thanks for a great time Grandma!

And rounding out the month of June...the State Hershey's Track Meet!  This year, Harper was representing our town in the 400 m and 50 m.  Both events happened to be at the end of the meet, so there was a little bit of waiting involved.  But we brought a tent for shade and Grandma brought some fun games for the kids to play.  Owen actually got to run the Kid's Fun Run before Harper competed!  Harper ended up finishing 10th overall in the 400 m and ran her hardest in the 50 m.  The saddest part of the day is that we found out the Hershey's Track Meet will no longer exist.  They are moving to more of a training model as opposed to a competition model.  The best part of the day was seeing Harper do something that she loves!
