We're Losers!

Just a Quick Harper funny...
So, on Monday we were driving to check out a daycare for Owen and Harper shouts from the backseat..."Mom, We're Losers!" Both Richard and I looked at each other with the strangest faces. I asked what she meant and she explained that we are always losing stuff at our house, thus we are LOSERS! First of all, I had to ask what we lost and she said it was her Barbie. I knew right were it was and gave it to her when we got home in the hopes that she didn't return to school the next day to tell her teacher that the Barlow's were Losers!

Valentine's Weekend!

The weekend began with Harper's Valentine's Party at school on Friday. She made out like a bandit...so much candy! I also got a lot of candy from school. Yummy!

Harper went to get her haircut on Friday afternoon. I got it cut pretty short, but it looks really cute. We had a quiet night Friday, the after effect of all the sugar that day. We ate leftovers at home and made a quick trip to Target.

Saturday morning...Daddy suprised us with Carl's Jr. Breakfast in Bed (my favorite!!!). We even got presents and sweet cards. Harper got a Belle Barbie and I got the movie Can't Buy Me Love! Do you remember that one? Straight out of the 80's! We spent most of the morning with Boppy getting some Prom supplies to start building the props. Harper loves Lowe's and her Boppy, so the morning couldn't have been better. We even got to stop in and see Grandma at work for a few minutes. Saturday night we hosted a Valentine's Dinner for Grandma, Boppy and Grandma T. Richard cooked fabulous steaks, we also had potatoes, corn, and homemade Red Velvet Cupcakes and Chocolate Cake. It really was delicious and a super fun evening. The boys even got in a little Wii Bowling Action. Of course after Harper went to bed, Richard and I watched my new totally 80's movie! :)

Today we went to church and had lunch. I got most of Owen's Newborn/Preemie clothes washed and ready to go! Now I really just need to put the finishing touches on the nursery and we will be ready. Well...ready is a realtive term!

Tonight, Harper went to play with Aunt Melanie and Uncle Cole, while Richard and I went with some friends to the Melting Pot. Oh my gosh...it was delicious. We had cheese fondue for an appetizer, salads, meat marinade fondue for the main course and Flaming Turtle chocolate fondue for desert. Not only was it super yummy, but it was a ton of fun too! If you haven't been, you should give it a try.

Weird...

What a CRAZY week! Tornados in February? Yep...It was a crazy day on Tuesday. It all started around 2:30...my Anatomy kids were finishing up their dissections and it started to rain out of nowhere. Then...kinda like the movie Independence Day, GIGANTIC hail stones (baseball and golfball size) started hurling from the sky. We were all watching in shock as car windows were busting left and right. And then the tornados began. We were all directed to our shelter at school...stayed about 15 minutes...went back to class...more HUGE hail...back to the shelter...and finally we released the kids for the day! I just thought that was the end of it. I hurried and left to go pick up Harper and on my way the sirens went off again and the radio told everyone to find shelter. Are you kidding me? So I spent the next 45 mintues curled up on the floor of the girl's bathroom at Harper's school. She was really scared, but I was glad I was there to comfort her. Everyone made it out safe...except for my car! The poor Yukon looks like a tank you would see in a battlefield. Oh, well...like I told Harper...things are just things!

Last week, Harper decided she was no longer scared of the vaccum! Yippee! She even wanted to vaccum for us and did a great job. She is such a big helper and is really trying to be such a big girl in preparation for her Baby Brother's arrival. Which by the the way...isn't very far away. Yikes! Lots to do around our house. The nursery is almost done, I will post pics when I get a chance.

Two Days of Vacation!

Even though it was awhile back, I still feel the need to blog about it. We all got two (well...Richard got three) days off of school a few weeks ago for an ice/sleet storm! It was really nice to have some unexpected time. We spent most of it inside beginning the process of Household Reorganization to make a place for Owen. However, Harper was insistent on going outside to make a snowman. You can see in the pic above, she could even pick up the "snow," which was really just ice! So, she just had to settle for sledding. One problem...we don't have a sled. Richard tried everything. He first tried an old vinyl type laundry bag. It went pretty fast as you can see by Harper's expression!

Then there was Harper's attempt to push Richard down the yard. No luck! Richard just wasn't satisified that Harper had gotten the real sledding experience, so he kept searching for the perfect "sled."

An IKEA bag? Yep, that is what we tried next. It was fun, but Harper decided she would just rather run around in the snow and make Snow Angels! Fun!!!
