Cody Simpson in the House!!!

At the beginning of the school year, I got a call from a local radio station announcing that our school had won the Cody Simpson Back to School Bash!  The DJ told me this meant Cody Simpson was coming to our school to do a free concert...I paused...then I asked..."Who is Cody Simpson?".  The DJ laughed and assured me that all of my high school students would know who he was.  In the next few days following, I learned that not only did the HS kids know who he was...so did Harper!!!  He is like a Justin Bieber...Disney teeny-bopper kinda guy!  Actually, his music isn't too bad!
Richard checked Harper and her friend, Gracen, out of school for the afternoon to attend the concert.  They were in high heaven and were so giddy the entire time.  Several of their friends joined them at the show.  The girls even got to meet Cody after the concert.  So exciting for them...cool in a New Kids on the Block kinda way for me!

Back to School--More Pics!

I know it has been a really long time since I have updated this blog, but I do have a list a mile long of things I need to add.  Hopefully, I can get caught up soon.
Back in August, Grandma took the kids to get their Back to School pictures taken with Miss Angel.  They turned out awesome.  I figured we needed to celebrate their first and last year in school together! :)

First Day of School

One thing we LOVE around our house is SCHOOL!!!  This year Harper is starting 3rd grade, her last year in Elementary School and Owen is starting Pre-K, his first year in Elementary School.  It is going to be the first and last year they will EVER go to the same school.  We are so excited for their adventures this year!

Getting Ready for School!

The best parts about going back to school happen before the school year even starts!

First on our list was a trip to Target to get BOTH kids' school supplies.  I absolutely love school supplies and Harper is following in my footsteps.  Owen was excited for about 5 minutes then was uninterested.  However, Grandma and Harper sent him on a scavenger hunt of sorts to help get the supplies.  We searched high and low for supplies and finally had everything on our list...as we headed to the checkout I glanced down at the list and realized that I had Harper get everything on the list for 3rd grade at another elementary school!  Yikes!  Back to the back we went to put everything back and get all new supplies.  By this time, Owen was worn out.  But overall it was still a super successful, fun trip!

Monday before school started, we took Harper & Owen to their school for "Meet the Teacher" Night.  This is always a nerve-wracking experience, because you don't know who their teachers are until you get there and search the lists.  Crazy!  But Owen was very excited to get Mrs. B (the same teacher Harper had for Pre-K) and Harper got the best 3rd grade teacher EVER (Mrs. D)!  She was so excited because she finally has some of her great friends in her class!  We also got to pick up their school spirit shirts and Harper showed Owen around the school.  He was so excited!
Last thing on the list to do in order to get the school year off rolling was our annual Back to School Lunch!  This year the kids decided on "cafeteria" tacos and cinnamon rolls (added by me because that is what we used to have with tacos in elementary school).  Grandma and Boppy joined us after church to celebrate both kiddos starting back to school!
I love the preparation for school just as much as going back to school!  We just LOVE school at our house!
